How does MuthoKhobor make its news shorts?

Every MuthoKhobor short starts as a report published by one of 37 Bangladeshi newspapers, TV channels or news portals. New report links are collected from those outlets' websites and feeds, and reports about the same event are grouped so that one short covers it. The MuthoKhobor desk then writes a Bangla summary of 100–120 words, a headline and a "why it matters" line from the original, using only facts from that report and no opinion. Quality checks reject summaries that are too short, copied from the source, duplicated or illustrated with a poor image. Each published short names the original publisher, shows its logo and links to the full report. Editors review important stories daily against the original and add background; only those editor-reviewed stories are submitted to search engines. Mistakes are corrected and marked as updated.

Step 1 — Collecting the reports

MuthoKhobor does not send reporters into the field. It follows what 37 Bangladeshi newsrooms publish — national dailies such as Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, TV channels such as Jamuna TV and Channel 24, online portals and the national news agency BSS. New report links are collected from their websites and feeds throughout the day. When several outlets report the same event, the reports are grouped so that readers get one short instead of five near-identical ones.

Step 2 — The summary

The MuthoKhobor desk writes three things in Bangla from the original report: a headline, a summary of 100 to 120 words, and a single line explaining why the story matters. The rules are strict:

  • use only the facts in the original report — nothing added, nothing guessed;
  • no opinion and no loaded words;
  • no long phrases copied from the source;
  • keep names, numbers and quotes attributed to the people who said them.

Step 3 — Quality checks

Before anything is published, summaries that fail basic quality checks are dropped: summaries that are too short or incomplete, text that copies the source, duplicates of a story already published, and stories whose only image is a logo or too small to be useful.

Step 4 — Credit to the publisher

Every short shows the original publisher's name and logo and a "read the original" link to the full report. The same reference is written into the page's structured data (isBasedOn and citation) so that search engines can see where the story came from. Reports, photos and videos belong to their publishers. MuthoKhobor never reproduces content from behind a paywall and never calls a story "exclusive".

Step 5 — Editors

Every day, editors check the important stories against the original report and write or verify a "background and context" section. Those stories show the editor under "সম্পাদনা ও পটভূমি" (editing and background), and only those are submitted to search engines for indexing. Other shorts show who published them and point readers to the original report for the full story.

When something is wrong

If a short gets a fact wrong, it is corrected quickly and shows an "updated" time. If the original report is withdrawn, the short is removed too. A publisher who wants its content taken down can email [email protected]; after verification it is removed within 72 hours. Read the corrections policy and the full editorial policy.

Beyond the shorts

The same newsroom publishes short news videos on YouTube and TikTok, sends optional browser notifications for major stories, and runs this blog — with guides from the MuthoKhobor team and posts written by readers. Want to know the basics first? Start with What is MuthoKhobor?
